It is with much gratitude that the Kansas Hispanic Education and Development

Foundation (KHEDF) announces the retirement of Irma Luna effective September 15, 2020.

Irma began her service to KHEDF in 2007, serving as a founding member of the Board of Directors and an active volunteer. As we grew, she took on additional responsibilities, and became our first employee focusing on scholarships and educational initiatives for our KHEDF Scholars. In her time with KHEDF, she built a legacy and is most proud of helping the students pursue their college dreams by providing access to higher education. During her tenure, over $1 million dollars in scholarships were awarded to 500 students. Irma will be greatly missed by students and colleagues alike. We are indebted to her vision and commitment for propelling us to our present position. Her work and dedication have assured our success for decades to come.

Irma's attention to detail, while keeping the broader mission in mind, has been invaluable. Her willingness to put in extra time and effort to help us meet deadlines has demonstrated a commitment to excellence that we have come to depend upon. KHEDF owes her a debt of gratitude for all her work on scholarships, programs, and student support. In addition to her incredible competence and skill, she has been a friend to all with her thoughtfulness and encouragement. We will miss her efficiency, commitment, and positive impact throughout the years.

In honor of Irma Luna’s contributions, the KHEDF board of directors will create the Irma Luna Scholarship and amend the KHEDF Outstanding Scholars Award to the Irma Luna outstanding Scholar Award. Thank you, Irma, for all your dedication and hard work to ensure the success of KHEDF. We wish you well and enjoy retirement with friends and familia!
